This video is the introductory lecture for the Online and Mobile Marketing – Multimedia Arts and Technology 164 and Marketing 164 – online course for the Spring 2009 semester at Santa Barbara City College in Santa Barbara, California. Santa Barbara City College is known for the high quality, cutting-edge course offerings and instruction in it’s School of Media Arts division – SOMA.
In the video, the instructor, Jacques Habra, discusses his enthusiasm in teaching the course, his previous experience lecturing at the University of Michigan, the University of California, Santa Barbara, and Santa Barbara City College. He also discusses his extensive experience developing several very successful web related businesses. Web Elite, although not one of the largest companies, was highly regarded, and very innovative and successful. It worked with many clients including General Motors, Wells Fargo, ESPN, and Sun Microsystems. His current business,Noosperic, works with many emerging companies, many of whom have a strong web based presence, and provides them with consulting and development services.
He discusses some of the most important fundamentals of marketing, and offers some recommended readings including “Crossing the Chasm” by Geoffrey A. Moore and “Buy-ology: Truth and Lies About Why We Buy” by Martin Lindstrom.
