I have been looking for a good software program to keep track of my sales, track commissions paid to me and my employees, etc. Does anyone out there know of a good program that can do this AND interact with my Access database?
You need accounting software like Quickbooks. I’m not sure if it will interact with Access. Talk to a Quicken rep.

I understand how to use different poin of sales software but I want to create my own poin of sale software. I hope someone would have to answer to this.thank you
try learning oracle i guess.because it’s all about database. But VB6 will do fine with MS access functionality.

If you already have a good career, why would you take a chance during such a dangerous economic time? A new CRM could be great but you don’t know what kind of "bugs" new systems have and if they have the support to back up those issues. In addition, what are the benefits to this CRM over Sales Force? If it’s ‘just another’ CRM why would anyone want to change? You need to be asking your "prospective" employer about their target market and ask more about their sales plan. They would need to sell me before I would ever consider leaving a secure job during a recession.

I was recently laid off from my job in marketing, for a software company. Before I could switch in to sales, the economy nixed any chance of me moving there. So I am still thinking of sales, most likely software / tech sales, but I am worried that now may not be the best time to bother, as I wonder, who’s buying anything now?
would you say it would be better to get a marketing job, or remain in marketing for now instead?
Brief answer – Software sales can be extremely lucrative when you get to an enterprise level at a major company (100k+ base, 250k+ OTE) but it takes about 7-10 years of experience before you get to that level.
An entry level job will probably pay anywhere from 50-80k OTE so yeah you can make money but is now the time to do it? Most software companies are laying off people left and right. The rain makers will always have a job, but now isn’t the best time to be learning the ropes.
I currently sell enterprise ERP for a fortune 500 company so I’m speaking from experience.
